WHERE IS THE CARPAL TUNNEL?
The carpal tunnel is a narrow passageway in the wrist surrounded by carpal bones and a strong band of connective tissue. This tunnel is about one inch wide and has little capacity to stretch or increase in size. All of the tendons you use to stretch your fingers go through the carpal tunnel, which is why it’s such an important part of the human anatomy.
SYMPTOMS AND TREATMENT OPTIONS
Carpal tunnel syndrome is associated with many symptoms, including localized pain, tingling sensations, and numbness. Weakness and lack of function in the hand are also common, which can make intricate tasks very difficult to perform. Treatment for carpal tunnel syndrome starts with a detailed physical examination, with a chiropractic care program often combined with other forms of treatment.
Here at Natural Health Houston, we support people through postural and functional improvements, nerve gliding exercises, and other therapeutic programs designed to relieve pain and improve long-term health outcomes.
